GRAND RAPIDS, MI — Police are investigating a shooting that injured a 20-year-old man at a house near the downtown Grand Valley State University campus in Grand Rapids.
The victim, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, has been hospitalized and doesn’tĀ appear to have life-threatening injuries, Grand Rapids Police Sgt. Terry Dixon said.
Officers responded around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25 to report of shots fired in the area of Gold Avenue SW and Fulton Street.
Early investigation determined the victim answered a knock on his door when he was confronted by three suspects wearing masks. He defended himself with a machete, and was shot multiple times, police said.
It’s unknown if a suspect was injured during the confrontation.
