The Grand Rapids Police Department is conducting a sweep of the downtown area, as well as parts of the west side of Grand Rapids, in order to locate any homeless persons who may require transport to safe shelter during this ice storm. Both community officers and patrol officers are conducting this operation.
The department is asking that any member of the public that sees anyone in need of shelter in the city to please contact the police department at (616) 456-3400 so we can ensure that they are offered help.
