As KTVU reporter Alex Savidge was covering the train derailment in Alameda County on Tuesday morning, a car crashed and careened toward him and his photographer.
Alex was live on Mornings on 2 at that moment. He was standing in a 7-11 parking lot. Alex credits his photographer Chip for yelling, “get out of the way.” Out of instinct Alex jumped to the right – luckily since the car was on his left side.
The car hit a light stand, as Alex and Chip yelled from the background that they were ok.
In his next live shot Alex was emotional as he said, “I am grateful to be ok, that’s all I can say.”
He shared a moment with his cameraman Chip, as he thanked him on the air.
Alex added a message to his wife saying, “I don’t know if my wife… she’s not watching. I haven’t been able to call her. I just want to tell my wife I’m ok.”
