A 9-year-old boy was struck by a car Friday, May 5, when he tried to cross the street between two parked vehicles.

The boy’s injuries are not life-threatening.

The accident happened around 7:50 a.m. in the 1800-block of Godfrey Avenue SW. After the boy was struck, he almost immediately was able to get back on his feet.

His mother soon showed up at the scene.

The boy, whose name was not released, was taken to Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital.
